Defining Terms

People are getting confused (and being confused by rhetoric) between the law and morality, which are concerned with actions, and free speech which is concerned with ideas.

In a free society we should be tolerant of other people's views and life choices since we expect the same tolerance for ourselves. But you don't tolerate criminals. No society is so free as to tolerate criminals roaming free. And when someone advocates illegal and immoral behavior, when they lie and cheat and steal, that is no longer in the realm of free speech. That is sociopathic behavior that should not be tolerated. And no one should be expected to be civil to, serve food to, or give the time of day to a sociopath.
