I write software for a living. Sometimes the developer of a software program can spend years adding features to software and nevertheless miss the one glaring omission that almost everyone who has used the software has noticed. I worked for one company on a software project ( that shall remain nameless ) where there seemed to be a single serious flaw that was being ignored. Instead everyone was busy with other pet projects. I asked people why this thing wasn't top priority and was told to get busy on other things. I asked again and again and finally just gave up.

Hubig's pies are back!. According to an article in the New York Times the pies have returned after a four month hiatus. At this rate we are sure to have Mardi Gras this year. Check out Louisiana Lagniappe if you want to eat one. Update: Or now get them here.

It's always interesting to see a survey like this. Someone, somewhere has come up with a test, which once scored, assigns to you a science fiction or fantasy character that matches your personality. The only problems are: The test is hardly scientific; and you have no clue ahead of time to which of the many science fiction or fantasy stories the test will refer. It turns out to be a short list.

Just finished watching Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Hustle
for the first time. A friend brought over the DVD. And if they weren't my friend before they brought it over, well, they are now.

Can't wait to see what happens on Stargate, its spin-off and Battlestar Galactica. I'm lucky enough to have a DVR so I can wait an hour into the programs and then happily skip commercials. Finally!, a computer attached to my satellite receiver lets me skip commercials fast. I have dreamt about that since the days of my first VCR while trying to stop fast forward at the right instant. It still isn't totally automatic. It would be better if commercials weren't recorded at all. And now I wish I could also erase the tiny ads that they run in the corner while the program is airing.

I don't want to give away the plot of the latest Harry Potter adventure to those who have not yet read it. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
is in many ways the most adult story so far.

I originally decided to get this headset because every wired headset I used with my phone eventually developed a short near the plug due to wear. I replaced (under warranty) one Plantronics headset three times before deciding to try a Bluetooth hedset.
